Hey rock family,
Another day behind the mic, another day proving this show isn’t just about the music — it’s about the weird, the wild, the interesting, and the stuff that makes you stop for a second and go “wait… really?” That’s kind of the magic of doing this every day. One minute we’re talking rock and roll, the next we’re diving into science, movie news, random facts, and yes… occasionally celebrating snack foods that turn your fingers bright orange.
Here’s a look at what rolled across the desk today.
REASONS TO CELEBRATE
Today’s random but glorious holiday: Cheese Doodle Day.
You know the ones. Crunchy, puffy, neon-orange snacks that absolutely destroy any chance of clean hands but somehow make life a little better. Whether you’re a crunchy cheese curl person or a puff fan, today is your day to lean into it. No guilt, no napkins — just snack happiness.
SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
If you’ve ever thought your physical peak came and went in your twenties, science says hold up.
Researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden tracked more than 400 people over nearly five decades and found that human physical ability actually peaks around age 35. After that, things start to decline gradually.
But here’s the encouraging part — people who started exercising later in life were still able to improve their physical capacity by 5 to 10 percent. So even if you feel like you’re past your “prime,” your body still responds to effort.
Translation: it’s never too late to start moving.
BIG SCREEN – LITTLE SCREEN
Hollywood had a couple interesting announcements.
First, Tom Hanks is set to portray Abraham Lincoln in the upcoming film adaptation of the novel Lincoln in the Bardo. The project will combine live-action acting with stop-motion animation, which should make for a pretty unique take on the historical story.
Meanwhile, Lily Collins is stepping into the role of legendary actress Audrey Hepburn in a film about the making of the classic movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Collins says it’s been almost a decade in development and she’s been a lifelong admirer of Hepburn.
DID YA KNOW?
Your heart is a workhorse.
Over the course of an average lifetime, the human heart will beat more than 2.5 billion times. It starts before you’re born and keeps going every second of every day — all while weighing less than a pound.
Not bad for something about the size of your fist.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Today’s on-air brain teaser:
40% of adults say they’re embarrassed by THIS. What is it?
The answer: their middle name.
Apparently a lot of people out there are hoping nobody ever finds out what’s sitting between their first and last name.
GOOD NEWS
A story out of Las Vegas proves good people are still everywhere.
An abandoned dog discovered near an airport ended up being rescued by the very officer who responded to the call. After making sure the pup was safe, the officer decided the best outcome would be giving the dog a permanent home — with him.
What started as a rescue call turned into a brand-new family.
THINGS I DIDN’T SAY ON AIR
Here’s the part of the newsletter where I get a little honest.
We spend a lot of time talking about headlines, studies, entertainment, and whatever weird thing popped up on the internet today. But the real reason I keep showing up behind that microphone is because of the people listening on the other side of it.
Every message, every comment, every person hanging out with the show — that’s the real heartbeat of this whole thing.
So if today felt long, stressful, or like the world was throwing a little too much your way, remember this: progress isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up again tomorrow and trying one more time.
And if all else fails… grab some cheese doodles and laugh about it.
Until tomorrow,
– Bobby D
