Whether it’s taking over the rock world, reinventing songs, or swinging an axe better than most of us can handle a trip to the grocery store, women everywhere are out here making noise.

So here’s your reminder: talent doesn’t need an invitation, confidence doesn’t need permission, and apparently some people woke up and chose “breaking records” over “hitting snooze.”

Alright, this one is going to hurt some feelings because as rock fans, we are greedy. We want the impossible. We want the bands we grew up with to come back, sound exactly like they did in their prime, and give us one more night of pure nostalgia.

But here’s where I’m going to throw a little chaos into the room…

I’m choosing discovering the next legendary band.

Don’t get me wrong, there are bands I would absolutely lose my mind over seeing one more time. There’s something magical about hearing the songs that shaped your life performed live one last time. That feeling of standing in a crowd, singing every word with thousands of other people who all have the same memories attached to those songs? You can’t replace that.

But imagine being there before everyone else knows.

Imagine being the person who says, “I saw them in a tiny venue before they were selling out arenas.” The person who gets to watch a band go from playing for 50 people to becoming the band that inspires an entire generation.

That’s the magic of rock and roll.

Every legendary band started somewhere. Before the arenas, before the platinum records, before the iconic moments - they were just a group of people with a dream, a couple of songs, and someone willing to listen.

As much as I love the legends that paved the way, there’s something special about finding the next one. The next voice that gives someone goosebumps. The next guitar riff that makes people pick up an instrument. The next band that makes someone say, “This is why I love rock music.”

Plus… let’s be honest. Being able to say “I knew them before they were huge” is basically the ultimate rock fan bragging right.

So my vote is:

Discover the next legendary band.

This week’s Women Who Rock spotlight goes to Rain Paris.

When you hear the word lumberjack, you probably picture the classic image: flannel, beard, boots, and an axe over the shoulder.

But it's time to update that picture because the women of competitive lumberjacking are out here breaking records and proving the woods belong to everyone.

At the Lumberjack World Championships in Wisconsin, women athletes set multiple world records in events like axe chopping, sawing, and log racing. Competitors like Karolina Urbanová and Meredith Ingbretson showed incredible speed, strength, and skill while making history in a sport that has been around since 1960.

And honestly? There’s something amazing about a group of women who looked at an axe and a giant log and said, “Yeah, I’m going to compete with that.”

While most of us are proud when we carry all the groceries inside in one trip, these athletes are out here chopping through wood faster than some of us can find the motivation to get off the couch.

The lesson here? Never underestimate someone. They might just show up, break a record, and make it look easy.
