Crown N Chaos Vol. 16
Day 3: We’re Just Warming Up!

📝 Straight from the Chaotic Desk of Bobby D:
Day Three of 2025, and I’m already wondering how many cups of coffee it takes before my blood is 100% caffeine. The answer? Still not enough. My desk looks like a tornado hit a record store, but that’s just the way I like it. Chaos is my middle name (not legally, but you get the point).
So, what’s on the agenda today? More rock, more roll, and probably a lot more sarcasm. Let’s dive in, shall we?
⚡ Today’s Power Cord
Festival of Sleep Day 🛌: Yes, this is an actual thing. A day dedicated to catching up on sleep after the holiday madness. Or, if you’re like me, a day to laugh at the idea of “catching up” on anything. Sleep is for the weak—or at least for people who aren’t running a rock empire.
National Drinking Straw Day 🥤: Because apparently, even straws get their own day. Celebrate by sipping your favorite beverage like the rock star you are. Bonus points if it’s something stronger than soda.
❓ Impossible Question of the Day
“What was the first rock song to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts?”
Hint: It’s a song that started a revolution. Answer’s at the bottom, but if you don’t know this, we need to have a serious talk about your rock history.

📰 Rock News You Can’t Miss
Tony Iommi and Glenn Hughes Recorded Song With Robbie Williams
Pop star Robbie Williams has revealed that he recruited Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi and Deep Purple icon Glenn Hughes to guest on a new song called "Rocket".
Williams was asked about recent comments from his musical director Karl Brazil that he had recorded with Iommi during a new chat with NME, and he responded, "Glenn Hughes [is on the track too]! I wanted to make the album that I'd make if I'd left Take That now, knowing what I know. This particular song ['Rocket'] encapsulates that perfectly."
Arctic Monkeys, Rammstein and Rob Zombie Highlight Barnes & Noble's Albums of the Month
Barnes & Noble announces its January selections for Albums of the Month in the following categories: Rock, Soundtrack, R&B/Soul and Jazz. The Album of the Month program celebrates the full spectrum of the music industry, highlighting new and old albums across an array of genres.
January's Rock Monthly Pick goes to the album AM by Arctic Monkeys. This album saw the Arctic Monkeys first journey into hip-hop-inspired music, along with adding new instrumentals. This contributed to it being their most commercially successful album.
Bruce Springsteen Plans New Music This Year
Bruce Springsteen confirmed that that new music will be coming this year, and introduced a song in honor of Slim Dunlap during an interview with SiriusXM's E Street Radio. The show sent over some excerpts from the chat including his reaction to seeing himself portrayed by actor Jeremy Allen White on the set of "Deliver Me From Nowhere".
Jim Rotolo: I've seen you on the set of this film "Deliver Me from Nowhere." I have to ask you, Jeremy Allen White, the actor who's playing you in this film, having been on the set, is it weird to watch someone else pretend to be you? I mean, I think it would be rather strange. Don't you think?
David Lee Roth Shares New Song 'Forgiveness'
David Lee Roth shared a new song entitled "Forgiveness" late last month. The Van Halen frontman presents an acoustic take of the tune in his 2024 year-end posting, which follows a different vibe from a version he issued last February that saw Roth mashup his lyrics and melody with Taylor Swift's "Lavender Haze" under the title "Lavender Forgiveness."
The Van Halen icon - who continues to post new content on a random basis - previously closed out 2023 with an original seasonal holiday song named "Talking Christmas Blues."
Queen Share 1975 Christmas Eve Performance Of 'Keep Yourself Alive'
Queen is streaming video of "Keep Yourself Alive" from a 1975 Christmas Eve performance at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. The clip surfaces following the recent release of a remastered and expanded edition of the band's self-titled debut album.
Written by guitarist Brian May, the project's lead single was originally issued just a week before the band's debut was released in its native UK, and ahead of its arrival in North America three months later.
The Vapors Announce New Album 'Wasp In A Jar'
"We look at the band with the philosophy of Viv Savage from Spinal Tap: 'Have a good time all the time'," laughs bassist Steve Smith of renowned New Wave veterans The Vapors about continuing the legacy of the band as well as the release of the fourth album in over four decades, WASP IN A JAR (release date: February 28, 2025 via Vapors Own Records). "Getting together and playing music is still really fun for us -bouncing ideas off each other and trying different things."
The exuberant fun that the band had in the studio translates well to the finished album. The follow-up to 2020's Together, the new album follows its three predecessors in conveying an individual feeling of its own, both lyrically and musically. "We just felt that the title Wasp In A Jar captured the feel of the album - that sort of bottled up angst," says guitarist Danny Fenton. "There are some slower, more heartfelt moments on the album, but on the whole, it's a fairly punk record. It wasn't something we sat down and planned, but the band came from punk in the late '70s, so we just kind of leaned into that in the studio."
Scorpions' Mikkey Dee Hospitalized With SEPSIS
Scorpions drummer Mikkey Dee shared via social media that he has been hospitalized with SEPSIS and hopes to recover in time to take part in the kick off the band's Las Vegas residency late next month.
Dee shared, "Just a quick statement about what has been happening to me these past three weeks: First I like to thank everyone for these heartwarming Christmas and New Years greetings, that I have not been able to respond to. I always try to do that every year.
Kevin Cronin Postpones First Post-REO Speedwagon Show
REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin has postponed his January 25th concert in Oklahoma, which would have been his first solo show following the retirement of Speedwagon.
He explained via Instagram, "As many of you know, we had to reschedule several shows due to my surgery this past fall. While I'm fully recovered now, the unexpected injury has thrown a curveball into our plans. Instead of taking December off, we have been playing shows, including these 'Hi Infidelity' gigs
